The Smackdab Run, billed as “America’s center-to-center, dawn-to-dusk summer soltice motorcycle adventure” is a ride from the geographic center of the 48 contiguous United States to the geographic center of North America. This 675 mile ride must be completed in 16 hours or less. The Smackdab Run is held on the Saturday closest to the summer solstice. This year’s Smackdab run is scheduled for Saturday, June 19. Smackdab is NOT a group ride. Participants ride individually, travel at their own pace, and stop whenever and wherever they like. There is no registration fee; the only expense is the optional embroidered finisher’s patch, which is offered to verified finishers at cost.
The ride starts between dawn and sunrise at the monument that marks the Geographic Center of the 48 Contiguous States just north of Lebanon, Kansas, off US Highway 281. The ride concludes at the monument that marks the Geographic Center of North America near Rugby, ND.
All the details are available from smackdab281.org. All participants must pre-register online!
